Add Link
The Add Link page allows new links to be added to the list of links on the blog. The Add Link page is found under Blogroll>>Add Link.
Name is the label that the link gets. It is the name that people will see in the list of links in the blogroll on the blog.
Address is the URL of the link. This is where users will go if they click on the blogroll link on the blog.
Description allows you to describe the link, perhaps explaining the relationship or a short detail about the link.
On the right hand side categories can be selected for the link. Check the categories, or create a new one by typing the name in the box then clicking Add, the new category will be selected automatically.
The following are more advanced options and not really needed for just adding a basic list of links. They provide further details about the site that is linked to.
The Link Relationship (XFN) box allows relationships to the person whose site you’ve linked to. The XFN introduction at GMPG explains it a bit more. Check the boxes and the rel box is automatically updated with the correct information.
The Advanced box provides further customization options of links. Image Address allows an image to be displayed for the link. Include the whole path to the link including the http:// part. RSS Address specifies the address that the RSS feed can be found. For Wordpress blogs this is almost the site address appended with “/feed” for example http://wptutor.com/feed for this site. Notes allows notes to be added and Rating allows a rating to be attached to the link. These advanced settings often don’t show up on the blog by default. They are usually accessible through plugins and through options with the links widget.
The Target box specifies what will happen when the link on the blog is clicked. Specifying _top will make the link break out of any frames it may be contained in. Specifying _blank will force the link to open in a new window when clicked.
The Visible box specifies whether the link can be seen on the blog or not. “Yes” allows everyone to see the link, “No” hides the link.
